Artist Statement
Vivian Morris blends the artistry of fine illustration with the centuries-old medium of reduction woodcut printing. Through woodcut printmaking, she brings to life an imaginary world and its peculiar inhabitants. Vivian’s creatures reside in a friendly, utopian world where coexistence and cooperation are the basis for survival and the essence of life. The distinct characteristics of her subjects, both wild and tame, point to the beauty of diversity and inclusion in an ecology that depends on kind, careful treatment of all living things.
